The site in which a translocation process occurs is a translocation route for a translocated object. More generally, provided that objects may be translocated in a medium with similar modalities (advection and diffusion), these routes have the potential of being used by any such objects. There is a number of constraints and qualifications that, in finer analysis, could be added to this notional generalisation of routes (there are, for example, physical or chemical barriers for certain agents). Indeed, the regulation of translocation within the body is an important part of the regulation of a number of immune phenomena as well as the functioning of the body.

Lymphatic processes. Such processes occur within the lymphatic system (in the formal definition below, occurs-in should be interpreted as exact location). They are regionally among the most specific immune process (occurring in a designated material part of it). For example, a cell navigating the lymphatic tree from the draining lymphatic vessels of the kidney area to the thoracic duct. lymphatic-p x ≡def forall y (implies (occurs-in x y) (parts lcs y)) 2. Lymphoid processes. Such processes may occur partly in the lymphatic system but at least partly outside of it and, in particular, in scattered lymphoid tissues.

Interface 3(6), 139–151 (2006) 34. : Computational energy-based redesign of robust proteins. uk Abstract. This work is part of a general treatment of physiological phenomena grounded on connectivity between anatomical compartments. As a number of immune-related mechanisms may be formally described in terms of white cell movement across body compartments, this paper is concerned with the representation of routes of connectivity in the immune system, focusing on its lymphatic part. The approach relies on ontologies and their expression in a logic-based language supporting spatial knowledge representation and reasoning.
